Ornamental Onion, Giant AlliumAllium 'Globemaster'
Huge crisp intense purple globes up 20cm (8") across on strong short stems have helped make Globemaster one of the most popular Alliums. Planted on mass they create quite an effect, especially when among mid-height grasses, which they won't tower over. To add variety too, try adding similar, but slightly different, Alliums which flower at the same (May/June), such as A. cristophii, A. Beau Regard, A. giganteum or A. Gladiator.

Allium Globemaster is a little shorter than many other spherical Alliums, and will therefore better put up with wind and cold.

This is a hybrid (A. cristophii x A. macleanii) and sterile, so it won't produce seed heads. Propagate by splitting the bulbs.
