Like many later hybrids Allium 'Lucy Ball' has is crammed to bursting with purple florets, giving it a denser fluffier appearance that some less-crowded earlier hybrids. Flower heads are large too - some 15cm (6") across, and, unusually for a drumstick Allium, fragrant.

Bred by Jan Bijl, Allium 'Lucy Ball' is a cross between A. macleanii and A. hollandicum. Propagate detaching bulb offsets and replanting them.
