Ornamental Onion, Drumstick Allium

Allium 'Pinball Wizard'

Allium 'Pinball Wizard'
A rare short giant, Purple Wizard has very large round flower heads (15-20cm/6"-8") on short 60cm (2ft) stems. Florets are silver mauve, many and similar to those of A. Beau Regard, which has the same parentage (A. macleanii x A. cristophii). In fact, this is a useful short version of that award-winning hybrid. Other assets includes a long flowering season - up to eight weeks between late April and June - and handsome swordlike foliage, which remains so during that time. Allium 'Purple Wizard' will give its best in full sun and well-drained soil. Propagate by dividing bulbs.
