Allium moly

Allium molyHailing from southern Europe, this is a useful little plant for difficult dried-out areas, also flourishing in sun and part shade. Its strong garlic scent will also help keep greenfly at bay, so plant it near their favorite meals - Roses. Just don't let it get too comfortable or it'll take over your garden. Flowers are not bad for a ground-cover cover. Clusters of bright yellow tulip-like buds open into long-lasting star-shaped flowers. Long luxurious grey-green leaves remain so well into flowering. If you're looking for something more, try Allium moly "Jeannine', an award-winning (RHS AGM) cultivar with bigger flowers. Propagate by dividing the bulbs every few years or by seed. Naturalizes readily.
