Allium narcissiflorum

Allium narcissiflorumAllium connoisseurs will tell you this little-known Allium is the most beautiful of them all. They point to nodding clusters of delicate wavy-edged bells in soft shades of rose and lilac set above masses of slender grass-like glaucous foliage. Propagation can be difficult and slow, and new plants are slow to flower. A. narcissiflorum will come true from seed, but seeds sold are often really Allium insubricum, which is almost identical. To tell them apart look to their seed pods, which will turn upward if you have Allium narcissiflorum.
