Allium triquetrum is a pretty wildflower found especially in warm dry coastal areas, such as the Mediterranean, California and the West of England.

Nodding clusters of three to five greenish white bell-shaped flowers are held on short (40cm/16") triangular stems - hence its common name, Three-cornered Leek. Grey-green leaves are also three-sided, and each flower has a central green stripe.

Allium triquetrum can be extremely invasive if not deadheaded. To propagate manually, sow seeds as soon as ripe - in a green house or cold frame in colder areas - or divide clumps in summer after flowering. Unlike many Alliums triquetrum will tolerate quite a bit of shade, happily growing in woodland.
