Macropetala ClematisClematis macropetala 'Lagoon'
As its name suggests, Clematis macropetala 'Lagoon' has shimmering deep blue flowers. In fact, it is the deepest blue of all macropetala Clematis.

Like them, it is tough - despite its delicate spidery appearance. Hardy to US Zone 3 (-40C/-40F) and fully hardy in the UK, it will tolerate most positions, from full sun to partial shade.

Although macropetala Lagoon will steal the show in April and May, it's all over by June. The show can extended though by covering its rather uninteresting summer foliage with a later bloomer. Popular choices include rambling roses and later flowering Clematis.

Wispy silver seed heads are retained throughout the summer.
